Bobby Fischer's Last LossThis is my analysis of Game 11 - Spassky/Fischer match 1972. It was the only game in which Spassky out played Fischer. Spassky's first win was a Fischer blunder in Game 1, a dead even end game. With this win, Spassky was within 2 games of Fischer, but that included a forfeit in Game 2. The analysis includes Rybka 3 scoring system (1.0 = pawn up for white) and the ranking of each move (1 = best move). The minutes per move are also shown (a - indicates less than a minute).
Spassky matched Rybka's analysis 17 of 18 times from move 14 to the end, or maybe it should be stated that Rybka matched Spassky's analysis! |
Dow history repeating itself?![]() The six data points on the left of the graph above, is the stock market crash of 1929 - 1932. The value of each data point is shown in an equal ratio to modern times. You can see the market tried to make a comeback for three years before losing 90% of its value. The market did not recover until the mid 1950s. Likewise, the current market is trying to make a comeback after a one year "crash." The data below is Oct 08 - Mar 09.

President-Elect PromiseFrom barackobama.com, "Barack Obama will make health insurance affordable and accessible to all." My health care cost $20,389.20 per year, over 40% of my pension. Although this won't put me officially at the poverty rate, our income will be the lowest of all siblings in both our families (10). In my opinion, the only thing that can be done to make our health care affordable would be to decrease our benefits. So I suppose Obama will keep his promise by providing a limited benefit package accessible to all at an affordable price. The other option is to come out of retirement and work for my health insurance.

Check before you authorize a credit card charge!!!I needed to replace the cover to a GM keyless entry unit. My guess was that the cover would be about as much as buying a new unit, about $30. Without checking the cost, I authorized payment on a credit card at Russ Darrow Cadillac of Waukesha, Wisconsin. When I got home and checked the bill, it was over $150. It turns out you can get them on the Web, with programming instructions, for about $35. A costly lesson for a small item... |
